Susceptibility of chilli selected cultivars to foliar and seed infecting bacteria

Phytobacteria are potent threat to sustainable chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) production all over the world. In past, bacterial infections were reported in plantations of Pakistan but data is still scanty and sporadic. Therefore, this study was planned evaluate germplasm resistance against local putative isolates. Chilli infected disease samples collected from Mianwali, Taxila, Chakwal, Islamabad Rawalpindi during 2021-22. addition, seeds different cultivars also investigated for infection. total, six isolates obtained viz., GP, ISL, TAX, CM, AAR leaf while 1 (APO) seeds. On basis biochemical pathogenicity assays, two isolates; GP (Xanthomonas vesicatoria) APO (Pseudomonas syringae) screened further analysis. Detached seedling inoculations assays showed that hot pepper Gola Peshawari found resistant respectively. Out three (TAX, Sky Star, Golden Hot), TAX cultivar isolate star show inoculation assay. sensitivity copper sulphate antibiotics erythromycin, penicillin, streptomycin tetracycline assessed by gel diffusion plate poisoning method It observed effective respectively strains sulphate. Our Xanthomonas vesicatoria Pseudomonas syringae prevailing field must be these bacteria before cultivation avoid future spread.
